I met Steven Soderbergh. Who wants to touch me?

1. Choose five of your all time favorite books.
2. Take the first sentence of the first chapter and make a list in your journal.
3. Don't reveal the author or the title of the book.
4. Now everyone try and guess.

***[Some of these are easy. Other's, not so much.]***
1. Long, long ago in a sad galazy far far away, I was dating this stone-cold Superfox.

2. Whatever one's experience of this globe and its inhabitants, however impartial one's judgement and varied one's acquaintance, it would be no surprise if the most enchanting person one had yet encountered, someone whose tastes in love and literature, religion and recreation, dirty jokes and household hygiene all lay beyond reproach, whose setbacks were capable of eliciting inexhaustible concern and pity, whose dawn halitosis was the grounds for no quiet shudder and whose view of humanity seemed neither cruel nor naive-one might without presumption suggest this person to be none other than oneself.

3. When I wrote the following pages, or rather the bulk of them, I lived alone, in the woods, a mile from any neighbor, in a house which I had built myself, on the shore of Walden Pond, in Concord, Massachusetts, and earned my living by the labor of my hands only.

4. When he was nearly thirteen, my brother Jem got his arm badly broken at the elbow.

5. His long white buck teeth hang out from a smile, like a wolf dog.

6. When I was growing up there, the population of Crum, West Virginia, was 219 human beings, two sub-humans, a few platoons of assorted dogs, at least one cat that I paid any attention to, a retarded mule and a very vivid image of Crash Corrigan.

7. She had wanted me to kiss her.

8. "When will they be here?"

9. Sally had a scab on her knee from falling off her bicycle last week.

10. All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.

Brokeback Mountain Humor

Went bowling the other day. Something funny was said.

The Setup: In September, I checked out the book of short stories in which Brokeback Mountain is kept. I read it. I commented to my friend Matt about how there was a lot of graphic sex scenes described in it. He goes "really, where?" and proceeded to read them.

Jump ahead to December, about 10 minutes before the funny happened. Joey writes something on a napkin about how "Joey Mowrey is super (cool, I think?)!" His girlfriend, Stacey (for those of you who didn't know that) take the napkin, marks out (cool, I think?) and writes "gay" above it. The following dialogue ensued:

Joey: I'm going to go watch Brokeback Mountain and LIKE IT!
Me: Can I come?
Matt: Come where?
Me: To go see Brokeback Mountain...you wanna come? You read the story...or at least the raunchy sex scenes.
Matt: I read the important parts.
Me: Haha.
Matt: *with horrible fake Wyoming cowboy accent (or Alma Del Mar accent, I guess...)* I know what they were really doin' on that mountain, and it sure wasn't fishin'.
Me: *falls out of chair laughing*
Frank: What?
Me: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

The end. Man I love my friends.
